Day 2 kicked off a little slower, giving me time to properly explore the convention stalls, which of course meant immediately giving in to temptation and buying even more badges. Zero regrets.
I also managed to create a free LEGO minifigure over at Whatnot, which is absolutely worth checking out if you’re wandering the convention floor. Free stuff and tiny plastic people? Hard to say no.

Breakfast once again consisted of the elite convention combo: pork and rice. Though because I am apparently still a giant child, I also treated myself to some soft serve ice cream.

Then came the mad dash to the Metal Gear Solid panel. Naturally, I had the Sons of Liberty soundtrack blasting through my headphones as I sprinted from N4 to N11 like I was personally trying to infiltrate Shadow Moses. Along the way I stopped only for two sacred purposes, free mango Fanta and obtaining a tiny sample cup that somehow made the drink taste even better.

By the time I reached the panel I could finally take a breather, powered almost entirely by sugar, caffeine, and mango flavoured chemicals.

Afterwards it was time to head outside, enjoy the gorgeous weather, chat with cosplayers, and catch up with old friends. Honestly one of the best parts of MCM is how easy it is to just start talking to people who love the same weird niche things you do.
Next up was the Brandon Sanderson panel, and there was a LOT to unpack.
Sanderson revealed that Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon, previously involved with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., are serving as showrunners for Skyward. (Yes, Jed is the brother of Joss Whedon and Maurissa is his wife. Together they somehow have more talent than Joss with absolutely none of the drama.) The adaptation is currently being developed with Netflix. Meanwhile, the Mistborn film adaptation is planned for a wide theatrical release through Apple, while The Stormlight Archive is being developed as a prestige television series.

Brandon also spoke candidly about screenwriting, joking that while he enjoys it, he sometimes worries his screenwriting skills are “like Michael Jordan playing baseball”, talented, but not necessarily operating at the same elite level as his novels. He mentioned that he plans to finish the Mistborn screenplay first, then move onto Mistborn Era 3, before writing the pilot for Stormlight later this year.
He also showed off the absolutely gorgeous Skyward leatherbound edition, complete with stunning artwork.

One particularly wholesome moment came when Brandon took time to showcase cosplay from the previous day, which the crowd absolutely loved. Afterwards came the Q&A session, and we’ll be posting highlights from that over on TikTok and Instagram, so keep an eye out.
Then things got especially interesting.
Brandon treated the audience to a reading from an unfinished project set in the ancient prehistory of Scadrial. He described it as “sort of canon”, but admitted the project may never actually happen because, in his own words, it just doesn’t quite work.
After the panel it was time for a quick snack before heading over to eBay’s area, where I somehow won Pokémon cards by correctly answering Nathan Fillion trivia. For the record, the answer was Nathan Drake.

Following another wander around the convention floor, and another highly important sample of grape Fanta, it was finally time to ENTER THE DARK ROOM.

Presented by John Robertson, The Dark Room is basically a live action interactive video game where every decision inevitably leads to death… and Darren.
If you die, you become Darren. That is the law.

It’s chaotic, ridiculous, loud, sleep deprived nonsense in the absolute best way possible, and genuinely one of MCM’s hidden after hours gems. Pure bangarang bedlam long after bedtime.
Finishing at 18:30 I had time to go buy more goodies before I left to go grab some dinner.

And now its time to eat…
Then off to sauna to relax until tomorrow when it starts all over again.
