In my latest video, I explore the nature of grief through a guided meditation. Lately, I’ve found myself wondering why we grieve. It’s a question that’s been on my mind a lot, and it reminded me of one of my favourite quotes from WandaVision:
“What is grief, if not love persevering?”
Grief is the mind and body’s response to losing someone or something that mattered deeply. In many ways, it is the price we pay for attachment. Interestingly, the Buddha taught that attachment is the root of suffering, yet it’s also attachment that allows us to experience love, connection, and meaning.
Grief isn’t limited to death. We grieve after breakups, losing a job, moving away, becoming ill, or even losing a cherished possession or a way of life. In each case, we’re mourning not only what was, but also the future we imagined. Yet there is a quiet beauty within grief. It reminds us that something—or someone—mattered enough to leave a lasting mark on us. That’s what inspired me to create this video, and I hope it brings you a moment of reflection and peace.
