While much of the world is celebrating the return of the World Cup, the more refined among us have something else to look forward to: the long-awaited return of RWBY.
Pronounced “Ruby,” RWBY is an American animated web series created by Monty Oum for Rooster Teeth—yes, the same studio behind Red vs. Blue. Imagine Naruto crossed with Harry Potter, but with a distinctly American, action-packed flair. The story begins by following a team of Huntsmen and Huntresses-in-training as they battle terrifying creatures known as the Grimm, before quickly evolving into something far more ambitious than its initial premise suggests.

The series built a fiercely loyal fanbase, many of whom were heartbroken when Rooster Teeth announced it would be shutting down. On April 15, 2024, the company confirmed that both its FIRST membership service and its website and apps would close on May 15, 2024, leaving many fans wondering if RWBY’s story had reached its end.

Thankfully, that wasn’t the case. RWBY has officially been given a new lease on life, with Volume 10 now in production. The announcement was made through a promotional video featuring the original main cast: Lindsay Jones (Ruby Rose), Barbara Dunkelman (Yang Xiao Long), Kara Eberle (Weiss Schnee), and Arryn Zech (Blake Belladonna). For longtime fans, it’s the news they’ve been waiting to hear.
