The Green Lantern Corps Has 7,200 Members… Jon Del Arroz Only Knows One

In another baffling post online, writer, pundit, and man accused of domestic abuse, Jon Del Arroz once again proves that he not only doesn’t know what he’s talking about, but also seems determined to spread outrage for its own sake.

This latest gem comes from the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is X.com – the social network formerly known as Twitter. RIP, Twitter. Anyway, Jon appears upset that Green Lantern should apparently be white… oh boy, do I have news for him. Some Green Lanterns are white. Most of them aren’t even human.

The poor guy seems particularly bothered that Jon Stewart is one of the leads in the new Lanterns series, conveniently overlooking the fact that Hal Jordan, played by the permanently middle-aged Kyle Chandler, is also a central character.

But Jon isn’t interested in comic accuracy—he’s interested in attention. If he genuinely cared about faithful casting, he might instead be discussing Aaron Pierre. While Pierre is a fantastic actor, some fans have pointed out that the character has historically been depicted with a darker skin tone. Those fans argue that changing that aspect of the character amounts to colourism or representational erasure.
