David Tennant and Billie Piper are returning to the big screen this November as one of the most memorable stories of the Tenth Doctor era receives a new extended cut.

To celebrate Doctor Who Day on 23 November 2026, BBC Studios and CinemaLive will release Doctor Who: The Satan Pit Extended Cut for a special one-night-only cinema event.

The screening combines the two-part 2006 story The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit into a newly edited, movie-length version. The extended cut will restore deleted scenes previously available on DVD alongside never-before-seen extended footage.

Originally broadcast during David Tennant’s first full series as the Doctor, the story sees the Doctor and Rose Tyler arrive on Sanctuary Base 6, an isolated facility on a planet orbiting a black hole. There they encounter the Ood and an ancient creature imprisoned beneath the planet that claims to be the Devil itself.

The cinema release comes as Doctor Who celebrates 20 years of the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler era.

Fans will also get an exclusive interview with director and producer James Strong, who directed both The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit, discussing the making of the acclaimed two-parter.

The event will screen in more than 1,000 cinemas across the UK, Ireland, United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Tickets go on sale from 9am local time on 25 September, ahead of the one-night-only screenings on 23 November 2026.
