It is finally here, it took nearly 20 years to finally break out of development hell but Terry Gilliam’s masterpiece will be with us soon. The film is based on the novel Don Quixote, which if you have not read it follows the adventures of a nobleman, Alonso Quixano, who has read far to many chivalric romances. This leads to him eventually loosing his sanity and deciding to set out to revive chivalry, right the wrongs and dispense true justice. Under his new name of Don Quixote de la Mancha, he recruits Sancho Panza, as his squire, whom has some very interesting thoughts about his master and knighthood. Throughout the story our protagonist does not see the world for what it is and is lost in his own madness. This is the perfect project for Gilliam and his unique style of story telling. One major different about this than the original is that its a 21st and the 17th centuary as its settings. As films go, this is one that I am looking forward too, with one of the worlds best directors and Johnathan Pryce alongside Adam Driver in the starring roles, what could go wrong?
