If you’ve been following Nerdgeist for a while, you’ll know I’ve been hyping Force of Extinction ever since I first played it back in August 2025. If you haven’t heard of it before, let me fill you in.

Created by 12 Sided Studios, Force of Extinction drops you and your friends into a brutal post-apocalyptic world where survival is never guaranteed. Every decision matters, every resource is precious, and every encounter could be your last.
As the team describes it:
«”In Force of Extinction, you and your friends play a desperate group of survivors, scavenging what remains as the world itself evolves around you, in this new TTRPG that can make you feel like THE HERO or just a smudge on the bottom of a MONSTER’S CLAW.”»
I’ve had the chance to play the game at World’s Lair, during online playtests, and across multiple Sunday sessions with friends, and every experience has reinforced the same impression: this game is excellent.
What really stands out is its design philosophy. The rules are streamlined and easy to learn, but they encourage creativity rather than restrict it. Instead of getting buried under decades of lore or feeling intimidated by complex systems, players can jump in quickly and start telling exciting stories. It’s intuitive, flexible, and refreshingly welcoming.

The game uses a d20 dice pool system with roll-under mechanics and features eight distinct classes to choose from. It also includes the brilliant Build-a-Beast Workshop, which lets GMs create their own monsters, alongside rules for building and developing your group’s settlement—and that’s just scratching the surface.
And folks… there’s even more. The campaign offers a huge range of pledge tiers. You can keep it simple with the digital edition, or go all in with special edition books, custom dice, and even a badass backpack—so when the apocalypse finally arrives, you can bring Force of Extinction with you.
The current BackerKit campaign is already fully funded, so the project is moving forward with confidence. I’m backing this project with my own money, and that’s one of the reasons I’m so happy to recommend it. This isn’t a sponsored endorsement—it’s a project I genuinely believe in and one that I think deserves your attention.
If you’re looking for your next tabletop obsession or simply want to support an exciting indie project, I wholeheartedly recommend giving Force of Extinction a look. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
