When I came late to the Dark Crystal party, I was already in my 20’s when I finally got round to watching the original movie and though flawed I absolutely loved it. Of course it is no secret to those close to me that Jim Henson is a hero of mine, he was a creative genius who sadly was never truly appreciated in his day and it is just fantastic that his work continues so many years after his death.

The Dark Crystal Age Of Resistance follows three Gelflings—Rian, Brea and Deet who inspire a rebellion against the Skeksis when they discover a horrifying secret behind their power that threatens their world of Thra. To help create this world the creative team went back to the original film, then to it’s art book – which further helped round the world out and finally they drew inspiration from The Last Airbender and A Song of Ice and Fire, so you just know that the world they built is going to be amazing.

To further help bring the world to life they have redesigned the puppets so they are now more versatile and realistic. Not only that but they recruited Muppet veteran Dave Goelz and The Dark Crystal’s concept artist Brian Froud participating in performing and designing the characters. Of course all that would be for nothing without a talented cast and as casts go this 10 episode series might have the best one yet –
