We have waiting a long time for this but it looks like we may finally get the chance to give Jean Luc Picard a worthy send off. Picard will follow our favorite Captain in his life which is set after the destruction of Romulus which happened in the original timeline at the beginning of the 2009 film. Picard has chose to retire but he is still haunted by some past failings, possible the death of Data at the end of Star Trek: Nemesis, though I cannot be sure if that is correct. 

I suspect that the new series may tie heavily into the Borg mythos, especially with appearances from both Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) and Hugh the Borg (Jonathan Del Arco). Maybe Picard is going Borg Hunting?

We also know that TNG Alumni Brent Spinder, Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis will reprise their roles as Date, Will Riker and Deanna Troi.

It looks like this show is shaping up to be something pretty special.
