While many where left disappointed with Cloverfield (2008), especially when the teasers and trailers got many people curious, I can’t help but applaud JJ.Abrams for managing to keep a Cloverfield sequel secret until now. I wasn’t ever sure a sequel could be possible but after watching the first trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016), the creators have managed to find an interesting way to carry on the story.
The trailer reminds me of Blast from the Past (1999), however while Blast from the Past was more upbeat this film seems depressing. I guess the reality of being trapped underground for who knows how long can drive anybody insane. It is a great viewpoint though for the viewer to find out how people coped after what happened at Cloverfield. The premise and the trailer for 10 Cloverfield does intrigue me but I hope they learn from Cloverfield (2008) and not reveal too much, some things are better left unknown.
The trailer ends with a cliffhanger and what the rest of the film could be about, who or what will they find once the door to their underground bunker is open to the outside world? Only time will tell if making this sequel was worth the effort but I will still watch it, if only to satisfy my curiosity.
The film is set to be released on March 11, 2016.
