TOKYOPOP Brings Manga to the Kids

I have to give credit to TOKYOPOP. For nearly 30 years, the company has helped bring manga to readers of all ages, and without publishers like them, there’s a good chance manga and anime would never have become the cultural force they are in the West today. Every new fan helped push the medium further into the mainstream.

Now TOKYOPOP is looking to inspire a whole new generation with the launch of TOKYOPOP Kids. The imprint is dedicated to publishing manga, graphic novels, picture books, chapter books, middle-grade novels, and Spanish-language titles aimed at children up to 12 years old.
Personally, I think this is a fantastic idea. Comics helped turn me into a reader, and without them I probably would never have developed such a love for books. Manga can also introduce younger readers to entirely new cultures, stories, and perspectives, helping broaden their worldview from an early age.
