House of the Dragon has always felt like the unwanted stepchild of the Game of Thrones fandom. The books and graphic novels are our holy grail, and those early seasons of Game of Thrones weren’t just GoT—they were the GOAT. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms looks pitch-perfect. And then there’s House of the Dragon: good, yes—but with a cast this stacked and a budget this big, it should be better.

Maybe this is the season where the showrunners finally rise to the challenge—ditching the over-the-top shenanigans in favour of sharp dialogue and proper court intrigue.

Failing that… I’ll settle for Ser Criston Cole getting his ass kicked.
