Nerd Bites

Now This is a Spider-Man Movie

Where do I even begin with this one…

The thumbnail alone gives us the PS4 Spider-Man, Spider-Man Unlimited and what looks like a classic Spider-Man, not only that but Ghost-Spider, Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Women, Spider-Punk, Scarlet-Spider references to Tom Holland, Rumours of Japanese Spider-Man, the Armoured Spider-Man, Iron-Spider, possibly the 2nd Scarlet-Spider and so many more Spider-People that I barely recognise, this film is going to be stacked.

What else do we know about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?

The official released plot states that : “When Miles Morales is unexpectedly approached by his best friend and love interest Gwen Stacy to complete a mission to save every universe of Spider-People from a mysterious new villain who could cause a catastrophic disaster, Miles is up for the challenge. He and Gwen journey through the Multiverse together and meet its protectors, a group of Spider-People known as the Spider-Force, led by Miguel O’Hara. However, Miles finds himself at odds with the Spider-Force, and Gwen, on how to handle the threat.”

I’m assuming that the threat will be The Spot aka Dr. Jonathan Ohnn, voiced by the very talented Jason Schwartzman. Now he may have a daft name but this guy is a powerhouse. Using his space warps, the Spot can instantly move himself or any part of his body from one area to another over a theoretically unlimited distance via another dimension nicknamed “Spotworld.”

Though I am sad that our team from the original movie are not all reuniting for this flick, it still looks like they are trying to do something different and not retread old ground, which is a positive. Like the original I have high hopes for this film and think the MCU should be standing back and taking notes.
