Star Trek celebrates 50th anniversary at San Diego Comic-Con 2016

San Diego Comic-Con International 2016 will celebrate not only Star Trek’s 50th anniversary but they will have a panel to introduce everyone to the upcoming new Star Trek series on CBS, the official Comic-Con Events Guide will feature the late Leonard Nimoy on the cover, the premiere of Star Trek Beyond, Star Trek: The Roddenberry Vault panel,the Star Trek: 50 Artists, 50 Years Art Exhibition and the limited edition MAC Star Trek make up collection. This year marks a very special year for any trekkies and new fans attending San Diego Comic-Con as so much is happening to celebrate 50 years (and counting) of Star Trek.

Star Trek (CBS) The franchise celebrates 50 years with a panel featuring stars William Shatner, Scott Bakula, Michael Dorn, Jeri Ryan and BrentSpiner with a panel Q&A moderated by CBS All Access’ Star Trek showrunner Bryan Fuller. The panel will reflect on 50 years of the various Treks as well as offer a look at what’s to come from Fuller’s series. 2-3 p.m., Hall H on Saturday 23rd July 2016.

I sincerely hope they release a new trailer or show exclusive footage of the new series at the panel, certainly more than the logo teaser in this trailer that was released back in May.

Star Trek: The Roddenberry Vault Documentarian Roger Lay Jr., Rod Roddenberry, Phil Bishop and Mike and Denise Okuda offer unseen clips and photos from some of Star Trek’s most beloved episodes. 12:30-1:30 p.m., Room 5AB on Saturday 23rd July 2016.

Event: Star Trek Beyond World Premiere

Date:  Wednesday 20th July 2016

Time: TBC

Location: Embarcadero Marina Park, San Diego, CA 92101, United States

Cost: Tickets are free, they where given to fans who attended a special presentation for the film at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles on Friday 29th May 2016. There is also ongoing competitions to win tickets.

Update 13/7/16:

For a chance to win access to the screening, please go to Embarcadero Marina Park South (see the map below for exact location) starting at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 20, where a drawing will start at 12:00 noon. Once there, get in line to pick a ticket out of a container. The winning tickets will have a distinct stamp on the back. Once a winning ticket has been drawn, the ticket will be exchanged for two wristbands that will admit the wearers into the World Premiere of Star Trek Beyond! If you do not draw a winning ticket, you may return to the end of the line to try again until all winning tickets have been drawn. Only one winning ticket is allowed per person. Tickets will be drawn between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM or until all winning tickets are drawn. Both people wishing to attend the screening must be in attendance at the time of the drawing to be wrist-banded.

All winners need to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the screening start time in the line at the designated area at Embarcadero Marina Park South or their seats may be forfeit.

The world premiere of the film will take place at San Diego Comic-Con International 2016. It will be an outdoor IMAX experience on July 20, 2016 at Embarcadero Marina Park in San Diego. The film will be accompanied with a live score performance by the San Diego symphony orchestra composed by Michael Giacchino.

“Star Trek: 50 Artists. 50 Years,” a new art exhibit created to commemorate Star Trek’s 50th anniversary, will feature Star Trek-inspired works by 50 artists from 10 countries around the globe, including one by Leonard Nimoy, the franchise’s iconic Spock and a renowned photographer. The exhibit will include original 2D and 3D pieces by the artists, who selected a variety of mediums — illustrations, photographs, sculptures, paintings, graphics and more — to express their love of the franchise and the inspiration gained from it.

The global art exhibition will debut at Michael J. Wolf Fine Arts in San Diego’s historic Gaslight Quarter during Comic-Con, from July 21-24. Among those contributing to the collection are digital artists Joshua Budich, Rocco Malatesta, Tom Whalen, sculptor Calvin Ma, the United States Postal Service, and Leonard Nimoy.
