Another Eirtakon has gone by, its become one of those events that just helps me break through the grey and mundane time of year we call November. If any of you have been following me online you can see how much fun the weekend was, if not check out some of good times here and here.

Gaming, shopping and hi-jinks are the first things I noticed on my way into Eirtkon. With the gaming, a huge portion of the con was dedicated to PC and console gaming. I even managed to somehow defeat our resident gaming mistress in a Smash Bro’s battle to the death. If regular gaming isn’t your style and you want something more old school then they had two separate sections dedicated to tabletop gaming and board games. Spreading things out so you could discover these as you roamed about. If you want to play and these don’t scratch that itch then you could fly on round to Fairtakon and try your hand at some fun carnival style games.

The Panels this year where as usual fantastic and had a great variety. RPG’s, Youtube, gaming, a discussion about Rooster Teeth, anime, you name it, it was covered. We managed to catch a couple of great panels the Q and A with Pyropuncher and the great panel with DAGames, which has lead to the world to know im totally awful at Mario in any form.

Also this year was my first ever panel on the Saturday night so that was a fun first time experience for me, keep an eye out for me at future conventions.

We took some time out this year to check out some of the anime on hand. As usual the level of Cosplay at the event was a massive improvement over previous years. The talent in Ireland just keeps getting better and better. The Cosplay scene on this Island continues to rapidly improve with more and more people taking their craft to a professional level.

Eirtakon have managed to attract a great variety of guests, from youtubers like Pyropuncher and W92Baj to the very talented cosplayer NipahDUBS. Maybe this isn’t your thing but they also had voice actess Michelle Ruff –  Sinon from Sword Art Online 2, Rukia Kuchiki from Bleach, Yoko Littner from Gurren Laggan, Yuki Nagato from The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, Luna from Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal, Yukari from Persona 3, Jill Valentine from Resident Evil Revelations, C-Viper from Street Fighter as well as many others.  She lends her voice to the Judge Dredd Superfiend series as Kid Sydney. You can hear her in many video game titles, commercials, TV shows and feature films including popular animated features like Kung Fu Panda, Home,  =Madagascar, The Wind Also Rises and Peabody and Sherman. If you listen close you can hear her voice in popular films like Fast and Furious 7 and TV shows like Arrow.

If you want more well they had more to offer as they had K pop artis Dabit –

Need some more music in your life well that much Eirtakon can also offer. Japanese duo I-Ai- where the headliner musical act for this year’s convention. This was pretty awesome and it gave the con even more of a unique twist adding in something totally different to what most other Irish and UK conventions are doing.

The amenities on hand where very handy and easy to get to. Ok if you wanted a meal you where going to need to stand in line, though if you planned it well you could sneak in before anyone else did. Though if you just wanted snacks well there was plenty of those on hand for anyone to buy. As for what happens after the meal there where plenty of toilets on hand, ones that where well stocked and very clean. On an interesting side note, Eirtakon have specific smoking areas for all you smokers out there, a nice touch which not many conventions think about, these guys really are good at taking care of their own.

As one of my favorite con’s to attend and with its unusual layout it just makes it more of a joy to go to and honestly I really am looking forward to 2016 when I shall be attending again (if possible).
