Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the Fox Broadcasting Company or at the ABC Studios? Do you wonder how shows are created from an idea to conception? Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, from Fox Broadcasting Company (also known as the directorial team behind 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street and The Lego Movie) will be joined by some of its shows creators including John Ridley and Will Forte for a panel discussion. John Ridley won an Academy Award for his screenplay adaptation of 12 years a slave, he will be joining the panel to talk about his latest project for Fox, which is American Crime. You can check out our review of the pilot by clicking the link here https://nerdgeist.com/2015/03/08/american-crime-2015-tv-pilot-review/
Will Forte will no doubt have the whole audience in stitches with this panel, he will likely share the funny antics he encountered while creating and filming his original comedy show for Fox, Last Man on Earth. He may even share how his days on SNL influenced his show and the experience this provided for creating episodic shows. If you loved 21& 22 Jump Street or Lego Movie then this is definitely a series you have to watch as it is bought to you by the same team. But seriously who wouldn’t be interested in seeing what a guy would do if he is the last man on Earth? How long would it be before he went crazy? What would we do if we where in his shoes? The possibilities are endless with this comedy series.
How does one create a show that lives up to high expectations from critics, especially after winning an Oscar? How do you create successful and original comedy? In fact I’m sure these will be some of many questions that could be discussed at this panel. For those in the industry or any aspiring writers out there, if you are heading to 2015 SXSW, make sure you drop by to watch this panel. Even if you aren’t attending then make sure to tune in later online, as SXSW tends to upload their interview online.
Creating the Shows That We Like panel will take place on Monday 16th March, 2015 from 12.30pm to 1.30pm in Room 16AB at the Austin Convention Center.
