While at London Super Comic Con 2014 we had the chance for a quick interview with Kate Ashwin, the Writer and Artist for online comic Widdershins
Kate has been putting comics on the internet for a very long time now. Besides Widdershins, she also used to run a fantasy comic called Darken, which is also online for free, forever, because webcomics are great like that.
Can you tell our readers about who you are and what you do?
My name is Kate Ashwin, I draw Comics online and I’m full time now. I work on a Comic called Widdershins which I put out on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
What is the Comic Series Widdershins about?
Widdershins is about adventure stories set in the Victorian era. It has Indiana Jones inspired adventures and features the exploits of chain-smoking bounty hunters, failed magicians, time-travelling bakers, and much more. It can all be read for free online here, starting with the first page here.
Where does your inspiration come from?
It would have to be Terry Pratchett and Indiana Jones.
Who is your favourite character out of the characters you have created?
Oh that would be Harriett Barber. She is the pipe smoking Bounty Hunter and it’s great fun to draw her facial expressions.
What are your future plans?
I hope to do a few more, I want to do at least 7 books in total.
