R.I.P Young Wolf

WARNING SPOILERS AFOOT…….

So the red wedding scene in Game of Thrones finally happened. It was just as heart wrenching to watch as it was to read, I can only imagine how hard it was for G.R.R.Martin to write it, he even stated that in writing these chapters he had to skip them till the end of the book.

Richard Madden, who plays our fallen King of the North, speaks candidly about the scene with Rolling Stone Magazine, click here to read the interview.

The now infamous scene was the driving force for the creation of the series, even reading through the 3rd novel you knew something awful was looming on the horizon, but this was an event that no one could be prepared for. It proves that no one is safe in this universe, which makes reading these books quite the thrill ride. You find yourself emotionally investing so much in these protagonists that it shocks you when they suffer, Martin truly is a literary genius. From the moment he killed Eddard Stark off Martin considered this inevitable –

“I killed Ned because everybody thinks he’s the hero and that, sure, he’s going to get into trouble, but then he’ll somehow get out of it,” said Martin.

“The next predictable thing is to think his eldest son is going to rise up and avenge his father. And everybody is going to expect that. So immediately [killing Robb] became the next thing I had to do.”

This gif will show how many fans reacted.

To anyone feeling like the North is beaten and will the Lannisters and Frey’s ever get their comeuppance, remember 3 major facts.

1. Robb though the protagonist, is actually kind of the villain, rebelling against the crown and creating a war(still wish he had won it.)

2. The Frey’s where wronged when Robb married another, this is a major offence and this outcome had to be expected.

3. The North Remembers, what do I mean by this well…… you will have to wait and see.

Truly at this point in the series, the night is dark and full of shadows…….
