I have been attending conventions for twenty years and it never ceases to amaze me at how far cosplay on this island has come. Back when I was 16 it was some very meh costumes that showed no skill and no heart but now that cosplay is an official part of the zeitgeist people are full embracing it. And yes there may be some cheaper store bought costumes, but who cares cosplay is cosplay and at the end of the day as long as everyone is having fun who am I to judge?
What follows is some of my favourite Cosplay from this weekends event, there will be more posted as the week goes on.
It is a convention so lets kick things off with some of my old favourites, the Star Wars fans. I know deep down we are all drawn to the light but it truly seems that the people of Ireland find the allure of the Darkside and the ways of the Mandalorians hard to resist.
And of course no matter what age one is, you are never to old for Disney, weather you be a princess or a dastardly villain at heart.
As the day went on it was great to see that the women of Ireland where out in force, ready to show that being a nerd is not something for the boys and this is truly a gender neutral zone.
That is not to say that the boys where not willing to show off their own unique styles, especially a certain Agent Archer who was looking rather dapper.
And speaking of boys, how can I not mention the original badass bros themselves Bebop and Rocksteady, who informed me that they where out to get some turtles.
If you liked what you see here then please keep an eye out for the rest of the pictures due out this week.
