I know the Cyberpunk brand has been a tad tarnished with the release of Cyberpunk 2077 but trust me if you are a gamer that game is one really worth checking out. I am slightly addicted to it and that is all I will say about that for now, because today I am here to talk about the upcoming anime series set in the Cyberpunk world. CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner.

Edgerunners takes its name from Edgerunners Inc, one of the many sourcebooks for the original Cyberpunk roleplaying game. It is also in-universe a type of mercenary.

If the animation looks familiar that is because the series is being produced by Studio Trigger. The Japanese animation studio that was founded by former Gainax employees Hiroyuki Imaishi and Masahiko Ōtsuka in August 2011. The studio has become famous for its amazing series including two of my favorites Kill la Kill and Darling in the Franxx, they also worked on one of the Star Wars shorts that Disney+ released.

We are making the anime that both Cyberpunk fans and those not so familiar with the game can enjoy.

The combination of the Cyberpunk IP, Studio Trigger, and Netflix is a match made in heaven and I for one cannot wait to see how this series turns out.
