In my younger days I really loved this series and I am so glad to see it come back with a slick new reboot. For those unfamiliar with the series, Shaman King follows Yoh Asakura as he attempts to hone his shaman skills to become the Shaman King by defeating his sort of evil twin in a tournament of Shaman from across the world. In this series Shaman are people who can bond with spirits to gain amazing powers. Yoh is your typical chilled out anime antagonist, which just makes him all the more likable.
Now if you are more familiar with the series then you will be happy to here that though Yōko Hikasa will play the role of Yoh Asakura for the new series, there is still a lot of the original cast returning with Megumi Hayashibara, Katsuyuki Konishi, Minami Takayama, Inuko Inuyama, Romi Park, Masahiko Tanaka and Wataru Takagi reprising their roles from the 2001 anime as Anna Kyōyama, Amidamaru, Hao Asakura, Manta Oyamada, Tao Ren, Ryunosuke Umemiya and Tokagerō, respectively.
Seeing this one get a reboot really lifted my spirits, pun intended and April cannot come soon enough.
