By now Critical Role has gained kind of a legendary reputation. Every week Critical Role follows a livestreamed Dungeons & Dragons game featuring a group of famous voice actors. Each week, the very awesome Matthew Mercer leads the cast through another epic adventures. It may sound rather mundane but it really is worth checking out.

• Vex’ahlia (half-elf ranger, Laura Bailey) “This one is a legend in voice acting with Fruits Basket, FMA, Naruto, Uncharted, Soul Caliber and so many more beneath her belt)

• Vax’ildan (half-elf rogue, Liam O’Brien) “Fate/Stay Night, Digimon and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children”

Of course guiding them along the way is the infamous Matthew Mercer better known as McCree in Overwatch, Yusuke Kitagawa in Persona 5, Levi in Attack on Titan and Kiritsugu Emiya in Fate/Zero. As you can see this is a pretty epic/talented group – honestly by mouth kind of dropped when I realized who Laura Bailey was.

After over 373 hours with these merry marauders the fans still want more and honestly now is the perfect chance to get more. The group have gone to kickstarter to try and get their animated short created.  To further indulge us they have teamed with Titmouse to bring us this very awesome project. If Titmouse sounds familiar that is because this international animation studio has worked on shows like Big Mouth, The Venture Bros., Metalocalypse, Niko and the Sword of Light and Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures. 

So you have a great voice cast, a fantastic animation studio, well what about the script?

An original story has  been crafted by the cast of Critical Role and scripted by their friend and TV writer, Jennifer Muro (Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, Spider-Man, Justice League: Action). So there is a lot of talent behind this project.

If the cynical part of you is wondering why crowdfund instead of going to a mainstream source then I can guess this will allow them more creative freedom and control over their baby, so honestly I cannot fault them. Plus this is something that is truly being built by the community for the community, which is honestly kind of beautiful. The majority of the cash will go into creating the animation and the rest will be to the dull stuff, all details will be on their Kickstarter. They hope to have the film released by Fall 2020 and if they hit their stretch goals it could be near feature length so be generous, you have until Thursday, April 18th at 11:59pm Pacific to donate.
