This weekend, Saturday 2nd to Sunday 3rd May 2015, King’s Hall will be taken over by local fans at the MCM Belfast Comic Con. There is a growing fan base in Northern Ireland with anime, cosplay and comics. With the second installment of the Avengers series making it’s recent debut at the cinema, it’s a no wonder comic mania is reaching a fever pitch with the Northern Irish crowd. If you haven’t seen Avengers: Age of Ultron yet, then I highly recommend you make a trip to your local cinema and watch the epic fight sequences on a big screen. In fact it would be the perfect way to spend an evening after spending the day at MCM Belfast Comic Con.
The guests attending panels and taking part in photo-shoots and signings include actor John Noble, actress Katrina Law, actor Danny John Jules, actor Andrew Lee Potts and voice actress Hynden Walch. Many fans will know John Noble from Fringe as Walter Bishop and as Denethor in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, he is currently starring as Henry Parrish in Sleepy Hollow.
Actress Katrina Law currently stars as Nyssa al Ghul in Arrow, a popular CW network adaptation of the comic book vigilante Green Arrow.
Andrew Lee Potts is best known for his role as the quirky Connor Temple on ITV’s science fiction programme Primeval.
Hynden Walch is best known as the voice of Princess Bubblegum in Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time.
Sci-Fi fans will be happy to know that the cat himself, Danny John Jules, from BBC’s Red Dwarf will be making an appearance this weekend.
One of the scheduled panels taking place at MCM Belfast Comic Con, is the Robert Overlords panel at 3pm on Saturday 2nd May. Cast and crew from the film, which was filmed in Belfast, will be taking part in the panel to discuss the upcoming film.
Actress Gillian Anderson is taking part in a panel for Robert Overlords when MCM London takes place from 22nd-24th May at Excel, London. Here’s hoping Gillian Anderson will make an appearance during the Belfast panel. If not then you can spot her when she begins filming series 3 of The Fall later this year beginning December 2015.
After you have had your photos taken, your memorabilia signed and heard the panels then why not visit one of the stalls and the comic village?
