The Knights of Badassdom is about live-action role players who conjure up a demon from Hell by mistake and they must deal with the consequences.
It’s a silly film that reminds me of so many awesome 80’s films and you know what? I loved it. I have seen a lot of terrible reviews of this movie and I think that some people are missing the point, this is not a film that is designed to break barriers, this film is for people, probably nerdy people who just want to be entertained. To set it up a group of LARPers using what they think is a prop spell book accidentally summon a demon from hell, yes its a stupid plot but there are some great actors in this film who help make it a decent movie that reminds me of Idle Hands and Dale and Tucker vs Evil. With a hardcore metal sound track, a broken hearted lead male, two dumbass best friends and one hot ‘chick’ this film would have been an 80’s classic, even its poster reflects that view.
With Steve Zhan (Dallas Buyers Club and That Thing You Do), Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Peter Dinklage (That’s TYRION F%*KING LANNISTER), Danny Pudi (Abed from Community) and rounding out the cast as the love interest is Summer Glau (Firefly and Arrow). You have a strong cast and silly premise, this film won’t win any awards but its a good watch , if you think magic and larping is stupid you will probably best avoid this as its not your thing, but if your a true blue nerd who is open to all things alternate give the film a watch ,you might be surprised.
