In Dublin’s fair city,

Okay, I promise that’s the last Molly Malone reference.

You all know I love making my bi-yearly pilgrimage to Dublin Comic Con, and every year it seems to get bigger and better. Kinda makes a Belfast nerd resentful, but it’s hard to stay mad when the con is so damn good.

As per usual, we were in line from 10:00, chatting with random people and generally soaking up the atmosphere before finally getting inside at 11:13.

The first thing we did was head straight to Bandai’s stall to sign up for some Gunpla.

Remember I said this, folks. This is foreshadowing.

Then we had a look around the Bandai stall, they even had exclusives, this was an absolute upgrade to the convention.

Next, I headed solo to Artist Alley, where I treated myself to some D&D merchandise because, well, if you’ve ever been to my channel, The Congruent Chronicler, you’ll know I’m all about those TTRPGs.

But now it was noon, which meant it was time for the Baldur’s Gate panel with Samantha Béart and Tim Downie — Karlach and Gale, respectively.

The panel was absolutely hilarious, with the pair discussing the game, the fans and, somehow, Matt Berry.

And don’t worry if you couldn’t make it to the convention yourself — we’ll be sharing clips from all the panels we attended across our socials throughout the week, so make sure you’re following Nerdgeist to catch them.

I needed the loo, but more importantly, the Queen of Horror herself, Elvira, had her own panel next.

So there was no way in hell I was missing this.

Cassandra Peterson was witty, thoughtful and charming, and living proof that being true to yourself might just be the key to ageing gracefully.

Afterwards, I went for a wee dander and stumbled upon live music and Mario Kart.

I never knew I needed this combination in my life, but dammit, I am in love.

I’d have happily stayed, but after chatting with a few Baldur’s Gate fans, I decided it was time to go meet some of the cast.

So, naturally, I flipped a coin.

Heads: Tim.
Tails: Samantha.

Because wizards use their brains and tieflings have tails.

IT CAME UP TAILS!!!!

So down I went for an autograph with Karlach herself. Samantha was absolutely lovely, and yes, this took a little longer than expected, but that was because she genuinely seemed to take her time with every fan.

We ended up chatting about backpacks and killing Gortash.

Samantha, if you ever read this, I apologise for implying that murdering a bad employer is an acceptable solution to workplace grievances.

Then it was time for Faramir.

David Wenham was in attendance, and he was here to show his quality.

This was a much calmer and more thoughtful panel, with some genuinely fascinating insight into the craft of acting and storytelling. Wenham came across as incredibly humble and was an absolute gem to listen to.

Next up…

IT WAS TIME TO BUILD GUNPLA.

Told you it was happening.

About 15 minutes later, I had a fully built GQuuuuuuX model to take home. It’s pretty damn cool, and considering the entire experience — including the model — was completely free, it was absolutely worth doing.

Before heading off, I decided to explore the bottom floor one last time and treat myself to a few final goodies.

And I was pleasantly surprised to see Ebay live was in attendance. If you have been seeing my MCM coverage then you will know that Ebay Live is extremely fun.

Then it was off to the train station, grabbing a Supermac’s along the way, and finally heading home after another ridiculously fun Dublin Comic Con.
