If you have been following me for any length of time then you will have probably sussed out that I am from the island of Ireland, and I am very proud of this very complex and wonderful little island. That pride is not from our ability to drink most under the table, or our ability to pick a fight with almost anyone, no, one of my source of pride for this little emerald isle is the fact that so many of us have an artist’s soul.
And it is for this reason that I have deeply enjoyed my time listening to The Drew and Luke podcast. Not only is Andy one of these artistic souls, he is quite the renaissance man when it comes to artistic endeavours, but he is also very good at going out and finding other local artists and shining a spotlight on their work.
In the latest episode Andy sits down with Steven Young from Back Pocket Comics. If you are unfamiliar with Back Pocket then allow me to fill you in on their work. In short they do anything and everything. Mythology, Western, Superheroes and Pirates are but a few of the topics that they have touched upon.

The interview touches upon the creative process and plenty of tips on how to bring a product all the way from your brain to the page. One of my favourite tips was getting the work upfront before you pay your artists, this is something I would have never thought of. Though Steven goes on to explain that in the independent comics scene trust, going both ways, is extremely important.
It is an utterly fascinating interview and even if you are not into comics this one is really worth checking out. If you want to check it out then follow this link
