We are now on Issue 4 of Stephen Mooney’s unusual tale of the Bettie Page and The Curse of the Banshee. If you are not up to date then I shall give you the cliff notes.
There is something supernatural going on in Ireland and Bettie Page has been sent to investigate. While here she has had to deal with being in a foreign land and also taking on an actual Banshee. All was going well until Bettie’s lastest encounter with the beast, now she is on the verge of death and it seems that the only one that can save Bettie is Bettie herself.
Every issue of this series has been an utter joy to read. Wher the earlier ones came off as a tad noir and the third issue was pulpy horror, at its finest, this issue just turns into a full psychedelic trip. And this is by no means a bad thing the concept is brought to life perfectly by Jethro Morales and Dinei Ribero. It just means that the series is going to continue to be a madcap unpredictable adventure.
And while all the trippy stuff is going on there is a fantastic B plot that just puts you on the edge of your seat while giving you all the feels. Honestly, I would say more but I do not want to give out any spoilers. This is a series I cannot help but tell every comic book reader I know that they should check it out.
