Batman: The Long Halloween is one of those classic comics that everyone should read”. Because of this it is absolutely no surprise to anyone that DC have chosen to turn it into two movies.
The Long Halloween is set early in Batman career and begins with a brutal murder happening on Halloween. This forces Batman to align himself with James Gordan and District Attorney Harvey Dent. Right now you are probably seeing similarities between this and the Dark Knight and yes you are supposed to see it. This Triumvirate use their alliance to go after the Falcone crime family and a mysterious serial killer that only strikes on the holidays.
Another note on this is that Batman will be played by Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, Under The Redhood, The Boys and Smallville), while Catwoman will be played by The late great Naya Rivera (Glee). They aren’t the only big names in this film the cast also includes Josh Duhamel (Transformers, Las Vegas and Battle Creek) as Harvey Dent, Titus Welliver (Bosch, Deadwood, The Town) as Carmine Falcone, Billy Burke (Twilight, Revolution, Zoo and Lights Out) as James Gordon, David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad, Ant-Man, Dune and surprisingly The Dark Knight) as Calendar Man, Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Batman: Arkham Knight) as Joker, Amy Landecker (Your Honor, Transparent) as Barbara Gordon, Julie Nathanson (Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay) as Gilda Dent, Jack Quaid (The Boys, The Hunger Games) as Alberto, Fred Tatasciore (American Dad!, Family Guy) as Solomon Grundy and Alastair Duncan (The Batman, Batman Unlimited franchise) as Alfred.
If you are looking for a Batman film to watch this is the perfect place to start.
