We Finally Got A Good Look At Pacific Rim: The Black

If somehow you are unfamiliar with Pacific Rim, I will fill you in on the details. The series is set in a time where giant monsters frequently come into our world via a portal in the Pacific Ocean. To combat these creatures the Human species builds some very epic giant robots. The only catch is these machines need to be piloted by 2 people who are perfectly in sync. So usually Best friends, siblings, father and sons or someone who is able to ditch all ego and let the other take the lead.

After two films and some other limited tie in media I honestly though the franchise was dead, but then Netflix dropped a teaser for this series and I was utterly intrigued.  After watching the full trailer I am enthralled and need more…

The series will see a brother and sister surviving in Australia as they search for their missing parents.

With the release of the newest trailer we finally know a few more plot details.

  1. Australia has been overrun by Kaiju, both giant and small.

  2. Our heroes are not trained pilots, but find an abandoned Jeager and take it as their own

  3. Our heroes live in Australia but may not be Australian.

  4. The rest of the world may also be in ruins, I am speculating this because it was strange to see an entire continent in ruins and a perfectly good Jeager being abandoned.

  5. We may finally find out more about the Kaiju and their creators.

  6. There seems to be some resistance to the beasts, this is judging by the end of the trailer.

If you are a fan of Giant Robots then this will be the series for you. I am just hoping its tone is more in line with the first film rather than its sequel.
