This one took me longer than it should. I wanted to find a way to do this right to do justice to one of Nerd Cultures greats. The man was one of our own and more than that he was a decent chap, someone who was well loved by everyone who met him and worked with him. Even the annoying fans like myself, who briefly met him at Emerald City Comic Con.
He had quite the prestigious career working on movies like The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Galaxy Quest, AI: Artificial Intelligence, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions and Van Helsing. But of course many of us would come to know and love his work on Myth Busters. Imahara joined MythBusters on the invitation Jamie Hyneman. He joined as the third member of the Build Team alongside Kari Byron and Tory Belleci, It was here that Nerd Culture grew to love and respect this man.
If you ever need to know the measure of this man, simply look to what his friends and colleagues said about him.
He was a true nerd through and through and helped show the world that we are not all complete losers. Beyond that he helped lite the spark of creation in so many of us and honestly for that I think we should all be thankful. He was a better man that many of us and he will be missed.
And just to leave you with a quote from the man himself:
“I have a secret weapon. And it could have something to do with special robot knowledge.”
