I am cautiously optimistic about this one. They sell it as being set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, “Watchmen” embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own. I am guessing that this series is set after the original story, which is a great concept, because it leaves us open to so many new ideas and new ideas are always good.
So why do I think this is a sequel series?
Adrian Veidt / Ozymandias – The reluctant villain of the original story is an old man and one that seems to run a police force of some sort. Yet now the police are covering their faces, I wonder if this so they can act without fear of retaliation?
Rorschach – who died at the end of the original story has been replaced by a gang/terrorist group of sorts. I wonder if they where inspired by his now published journals.
Finally technology seems to have moved on by a significant amount. All of this points to a Post Watchmen world.
Maybe the series will follow a new group of heroes trying to see which side of the line they fall on Justice or Order?
