BuzzFeed & The CW Present Spells & Spirits: The Best Party at SDCC 2018

This year at San Diego Comic Con, the CW and BuzzFeed joined forces to throw a truly enchanting party to celebrate all things Charmed. Every detail, from the décor to the swag to the drinks were perfectly crafted to give a spellbinding experience.

On entry to the party, the first thing that caught everyone’s attention was the beer pong table. It remained popular all night, and it was a fantastic way to get attendees into the party spirit.

Keeping with the theme, the bar served up 2 specialty cocktails: “Resting Witch Face” (a rose margarita) and “Witches Be Crazy (a whiskey ginger mojito). Both were delicious. However, if party goers weren’t in the mood for cocktails, they were free to pick anything alcoholic or non-alcoholic from the generously stocked bar. Drinks even came with cute Charmed style swizzle sticks.

While the drinks were flowing, a variety of food was brought out regularly to keep people from getting hungry. Items included mini tacos, chicken and waffles, ravioli, etc.  Guests could enjoy their drinks/food and the beautiful view from the rooftop at specially decorated tables. Some had fake candles. Some had mini Ouija boards. BuzzFeed and The CW really do deserve praise for committing to their theme.

Also on theme were the freebies they gave out. We were treated to a great selection including t-shirts, cups, pins, stickers and matches branded with Charmed style phrases and logos. Staff were really generous and encouraged us to take some for family and friends.

Being that the event was all about Charmed, it was no surprise to see the new cast members Melonie Diaz, Madeleine Mantock and Sarah Jeffery, in attendance. However, there were lots more members of the CW family on hand to celebrate including Riverdale’s Skeet Ulrich, Black Lightning’s Cress Williams, Arrow’s Colton Haynes, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s David Hull. All happily mingled with guests and enjoyed the drinks and games on offer.

Spells and Spirits was a fantastic success that got me excited to see what Charmed has to offer with its pilot. BuzzFeed and The CW did a brilliant job in drumming up the hype for show as well as producing a great party that both guests and talent could enjoy. I can’t wait to see what they come up with at SDCC 2019!
