Take Another Bite Of Van Helsing For Its Third Season

If you are looking for something to binge watch this summer and have not seen Van Helsing then I highly advise you to check it out, this is one of those amazing shows that not enough people are watching and I love it. In case you have not seen Van Helsing please do not click on that video as there are more than a few spoilers in it.

For the newbies out there Van Helsing is set in a post apocalyptic North America, where after a massive volcanic explosion helped darken the skies, that has been overrun by hordes of vampires. Readers do not worry these are not the teeny bopper Twilight Vampires, nor are they your grand daddy’s vampires, these beasts are divided into different types and factions which include religious zealots, insane creatures that love to skin humans and wear their flesh, more traditional vampires and savage beasts that lack any real thought. The addition of the different types of adversaries is one of the series strongest aspects and something that really helps it stand out, by giving you different enemies each week.

In the same vein as The Walking Dead we follow a rag tag group of survivors who do whatever is possible to survive, with them is the last living member of the Van Helsing bloodline and she is monstrous in battle. It’s that addition that really makes this show shine, Kelly Overton, who plays our lead is unusual in that she is never dolled up, not that she really needs it she is naturally very beautiful and in battle she never wins by finesse, she usually wins through brute strength which is truly empowering and different.

Other than Kelly’s fantastic performance the rest of the cast are outstanding especially Christopher Heyerdahl who is always a highlight, though I won’t say why because you really need to watch the show to find out.

From this trailer it looks like the violence is going to be on the increase and there is going to be a hell of alot more action, which will be a refreshing change of pace and one that will help distance itself further from shows such as The Walking Dead. It even looks like we are going to see a few more main characters take the plunge and become vampires themselves.

Yes sign me up for this one.
