After watching Pacific Rim again this weekend I began to have fond memories of this particular game. In King of Tokyo you take the role of Giant Monsters, Aliens and Robots etc and proceed to beat the living crap out of each other. This fun game that thrives on its simplicity and was created by Richard Garfield (Android Netrunner).
At the start of each turn, you roll six dice. The dice show the following six symbols: 1, 2 or 3 Victory Points, Energy, Heal and Attack. Over three successive throws. You choose whether to keep or discard each die in order to win victory points, gain energy, restore health, or attack other players.
The most badass player will dominate Tokyo (or the Harbor), and earn extra victory points a good twist is that player can’t heal and must face all the other monsters alone!
To help give you a competitive edge you can spend the points you have gained on power ups that have varying affects. In the end its prison rules, so boy and girls you gotta find the badest M-F in the joint and show him whose the boss, Tokyo is your playground and your not going to share it.
Each match is under 30minutes and its for 2 – 6 players a real fun game, and brings back plenty of nostalgia, this one is worth checking out.

I love how competitive it gets, I think the simplicity is what draws you in to be so competitive
