See: Coyote vs Acme

Probably the most highly anticipated film of 2026 due to it being shelved for 3 years with no release date in sight until Ketchup Entertainment acquired it in 2025, Looney Tunes fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief as Coyote vs Acme is hitting cinemas this month. The film follows Wile E. Coyote as he enlists an attorney to sue the Acme Corporation for repeatedly selling him alleged faulty products in his pursuit of the Road Runner. A mix of live action and animation, with a strong focus on the comedy, and a stellar cast, the trailer (which has set record views), looks fantastic and is reassuring fans that the wait was worth it. Coyote vs Acme will be released in the UK on August 21st and in the USA on August 28th.

A supernatural mystery thriller? Count us in. The Unknown starts off a century ago in New Avalon, when five women vanish after a seance with only one dress for each found hanging in an oak tree. In present day, Marin is starting to film a movie about the unsolved mystery in New Avalon. But when mysterious things begin to happen to the crew a castmate vanishes, she is left to wonder if a supernatural force is at work. Riley Sager is an absolute master at suspense and mystery, having dominated the thriller genre for the past decade, and we’re sure his latest novel will be another winner. The Unknown will be released on August 4th.

Play: Star Wars Zero Company

We will always welcome a new Star Wars game, especially one set during the Clone Wars so Zero Company is an exciting prospect this month. In the game, players will assume control of Hawks, the leader of “Zero Company”, a group of misfits and mercenaries tasked with fighting an emerging threat to the galaxy. Designed to be a mix of combat and strategy, the game will also feature elements commonly found in role playing games. Plus, there is the opportunity to create your own astromech droids to help support your team. Star Wars Zero company will be released on August 27th across varying gaming platforms.

Listen: Cathedral by John Carpenter

Legend of horror, John Carpenter has written his first original graphic novel Cathedral, centring on an investigation that leads two detectives to face a centuries-old evil within the catacombs of an abandoned church. As a bonus, he has also penned a companion album composed of tracks that align with each chapter of the novel, creating an audio/visual narrative. Leaning into the heavy metal and rock genre, it is the perfect complement to the story but Carpenter has assured listeners that it also stands alone and is designed to be enjoyed even without the graphic novel. The album will be released on August 7th.

Go: Fairy Tales Exhibition

Running since March, this month is your last chance to attend the Fairy Tale exhibition at the British Library. Enjoyable for both children and adults who love storytelling, the exhibition is deliberately immersive with attendees able to explore a cosy cottage, deep dark woods, and an enchanted palace. Blending the history of fairytales and how they have been adapted in different cultures and time periods, the exhibit also has incredible pieces on display with the highlight being the original manuscript of Alice’s Adventures Under Ground by Lewis Carroll. Fairy Tales will run until August 23rd.

Drink: Homemade Butterbeer

Channel your inner Harry Potter and enjoy some cold yet creamy Butterbeer at home this summer. There are plenty of recipes on the internet but the one we’ve found here is easy to make with only 4 ingredients. If you want to make it alcoholic, our tip would be to swap out the butterscotch syrup for butterscotch liqueur, and add a shot of vodka or whiskey depending on your preference.

Celebrate: International Cosplay Day

First held in 2010, International Cosplay Day is a celebration of costume and creativity uniting cosplayers who dress up as their favourite characters. In the past 16 years, it has grown exponentially with fans all over the world joining in to share their craft. Whether you’re a professional or complete novice, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the day including hosting a cosplay meet up, sharing pictures of your costumes online, attending a convention to see other people’s cosplay, or starting work on a new outfit. Watch: Lanterns

DC fans have been eagerly awaiting a project that would do Green Lantern justice and they may have found it in its new iteration Lanterns. The series will see experienced Lantern Hal Jordan pair up with new recruit John Stewart to investigate a murder which Jordan believes is an extraterrestrial incident leading them to a wider mystery. With Lost creator Damon Lindelof at the helm, we’re expecting big things and we won’t have to wait long. Lanterns will premier on HBO on August 16th.
