SDCC 2023 Recap: AMC’s Streets of Immortality

While there were lots of offsites to choose from this year at Comic Con, top of our list was AMC’s Streets of Immortality. Focused on Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe which includes shows “Interview with the Vampire” and “Mayfair Witches” (IWTV was more featured than MW), guests were transported to Storyville, the red light district of New Orleans from IWTV.

The experience started with attendees being ushered into a room where a character explained all about Storyville and the strange occurrences that had been happening there. He invited guests to join him on the journey to immortality by imbibing an elixir (a cranberry cinnamon mocktail). Attendees were then allowed to explore Storyville.

The offsite was very immersive with your experience being directly affected by how much you choose to interact with the actors. There was tap dancing to watch, street games to partake in, stories to hear, protection herbs/sage to receive, and a piano to play.

There was also lots of opportunity to get swag including exclusive prints and posters, notebooks, sheet music, a bag, and the aforementioned herbs/sage.

At the end of the offsite, there was a photo opportunity with some vampires.

From start to finish, Streets of Immortality was an excellent experience that really immersed fans into the world. As well as that, it was incredibly well organised. The queue management was so efficient that everybody went in at their scheduled times (something almost unheard of at SDCC) and despite high demand they got through standby lines quickly ensuring low wait times (another thing almost unheard of at SDCC). Additionally the offsite was clearly created for both fans of the show and newcomers. We had never seen the show before but didn’t feel like it mattered as it was more about being involved in the world than knowing the backstory. However, it did make us immediately want to catch up on all the episodes. AMC did a great job here – fingers crossed they come back for another offsite next year.
