Could this really be the dawn of us getting regular good video game adaptations?
The past few years we have seen Detective Pikachu, The Sonic Movies and a New Mortal Kombat all projects that were definitely above average. And I know that is a very low bar, but it is a lot better than the video games adaptations that we received in the past. Meanwhile on Tv we have received excellent shows such as Arcane, Castlevania and The Witcher – all this has lead me to a place where I think that HBO’s the last of us might just live up to the hype.
Synopsis:
Based on the 2013 video game of the same name developed by Naughty Dog, the series will follow Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler tasked with escorting the teenage Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across a post-apocalyptic United States.
All I know is that HBO has a great lead and seems to have dumped a lot of money into sets and effects. While they have also used this trailer to focus on the horrors of man rather than the “new” threats that our protagonist will face, which tells me that HBO wants to take this one very seriously. My mind is open and I look forward to seeing the first episode next year.
