So, I am in new territory with this one folks. This is a character I know very little about and researching her has been tough as there is DC Heroine with the same name. So I am thankfully coming to this series with a completely blank slate, and I am loving it. My elevator pitch for this series would be American Gods but with some good old-fashioned comic book flare, written by two of my favorite writers Thomas Sniegoski and Jeannine Acheson. Now if that sounds like your cup of tea, then I suggest you go grab yourself a copy. It will be on sale from the 5th of January 2022.
And if you need more convincing well I guess you better read on, I promise to try and keep the spoilers light.
Pantha is an immortal Egyptian queen, one that was cursed by the gods for both lying to said gods and for committing an unspeakable crime. She is now forced to live a lonely immortal life trapped between the form of a human and that of a panther, all the while being forever tormented by the memories of her deeds. It seems that this series will see Pantha be given the chance at redemption by saving the gods that once cursed her. Though I may be wrong, it is hard to tell because the first issue packs a lot in, but is surprisingly light on Pantha, though her limited time is very memorable.
As first issues go this was a really strong start and it is made all the more vivid by the excellent art and colors of Igor Lima and Adriano Augusto respectively. I have a lot of high hopes for this series and really love the fact that I am for the first time in a long time flying blind.
Issue 2 cannot come soon enough.
