Dynamite: Vengeance of Vampirella #22

When last we left out hero she had been drugged and taken hostage by a monster worshipping version of Pleasantville. And with Vampirella unconscious, her ward has been taken as a sacrifice to the town’s bestial guardian. This place may look like a slice of heaven, but all hell is about to break loose.

Issue 22 is a feast for your eyes, it is a healthy mix of dark and stunning, with some pages you just need to stop and stare at. Michael Sta. Maria’s art is perfectly on point and mix that with the colors of Omi Remalante Jr and you have a match made in heaven. One that takes you from mundane to marvelous in mere seconds. And when I say mundane I am referring to the town that this is set in, the place is designed to look as average as possible, and in the post-apocalyptic world of The Vengence of Vampirella, the average easily sticks out.

As much as I love that gorgeous art, I do love the fact that it tells a story, one that has been crafted by the talented Thomas Sniegoski. Issue 22 sees Thomas has taken a particularly dark concept, one of a murderous selfish town, and turned it into quite the glorious spectacle. One that combines action, people getting their just deserts and a bloody big dragon to boot.

What more can one want from a book?

If I would say more I would just spoil the story.  So if this sounds like your cup of tea then why not grab yourself a copy as it is on sale from today the 29th of September 2021,
