I was so elated to see that this series was not over. Vengeance of Vampirella is a masterpiece in post-apocalyptic fiction and that is a hill I am more than willing to die on, If you are unfamiliar with the series this would be the perfect point to jump in. A few issues ago Vampirella defeated the evil overload and is now roaming the Earth, trying to see what good she can do. It is a refreshing take as we the readers get to have a look at the world she has made and quickly see that happily ever after is not for everyone.

This particular issue comes off as Pleasantville meets The Shadow over Innsmouth. So as you can guess Vampirella finds herself in a happy slice of paradise where all is not as it seems. Yes this is one of those “Man is the real monster” stories. Though in this case, it might be justifiable, even if it is not right. It seems that writer Thomas Sniegoski is using this issue to ask some pretty deep questions.

Mix all this in with the gorgeous art and colors of Michael Sta. Maria and Omi Remalante Jr and you have yourself the perfect issue to kick off a lifelong love for Vampirella.
