Star Trek Beyond will have its World Premiere at SDCC 2016

Star Trek Beyond Director Justin Lin and Producer J.J. Abrams recently confirmed, during a special presentation for Star Trek Beyond at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles and to reveal the second trailer, that the world premiere of the film will take place at San Diego Comic-Con International 2016. It will be an outdoor IMAX experience on July 20, 2016 at Embarcadero Marina Park in San Diego. The film will be accompanied with a live score performance by the San Diego symphony orchestra composed by Michael Giacchino.

Star Trek Beyond Director Justin Lin told fans at the special presentation “I am thrilled to celebrate the premiere of the film together with the fans at Comic-Con and excited for everyone there to experience Michael Giacchino’s incredible score played live.”

David Glanzer, spokesperson for Comic-Con International commented on the news by saying “We are both privileged and excited that Paramount Pictures, Skydance, and Bad Robot have chosen to honour fans by having the world premiere of the next chapter of Star Trek at San Diego Comic-Con International this summer.”

Lucky fans who attended the special presentation, including those who queued up but got turned away, where rewarded with a ticket to attend the world premiere screening. Details on when and how more tickets will be distributed have yet to be announced.

Update 13/7/16:

For a chance to win access to the screening, please go to Embarcadero Marina Park South (see the map below for exact location) starting at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 20, where a drawing will start at 12:00 noon. Once there, get in line to pick a ticket out of a container. The winning tickets will have a distinct stamp on the back. Once a winning ticket has been drawn, the ticket will be exchanged for two wristbands that will admit the wearers into the World Premiere of Star Trek Beyond! If you do not draw a winning ticket, you may return to the end of the line to try again until all winning tickets have been drawn. Only one winning ticket is allowed per person. Tickets will be drawn between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM or until all winning tickets are drawn. Both people wishing to attend the screening must be in attendance at the time of the drawing to be wrist-banded.

All winners need to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the screening start time in the line at the designated area at Embarcadero Marina Park South or their seats may be forfeit.
