Knives Out fans have been eagerly awaiting any news relating to a potential 3rd instalment of the franchise and now the first mystery has been solved: the title.

Rian Johnson, writer and director of the first 2 films, posted a video teaser that revealed the movie will be called Wake Up Dead Man. In the clip, Daniel Craig who plays lead character Benoit Blanc, narrates: “In the beginning, the knives came out. Then, behold, the glass was shattered. But my most dangerous case yet is about to be revealed.”, before the new film title is revealed. Watch the 45 second teaser below.

Fans across the world are very excited about the new film, and Rian Johnson seems to share their feelings. Before posting the clip, he summed up his passion for the genre: “I love everything about whodunnits but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies. We’re about to go into production on the 3rd one, and I’m very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going.”

As well as Rian Johnson returning to write and direct, Daniel Craig will of course also be returning as investigator Benoit Blanc. No other casting announcements have been made. However, audiences can probably expect a whole new cast if the format follows the past two films.

Fans will have to wait a little while to see the movie though. While the video teaser revealed the movie would be released in 2025, no further details have been given to which month. However, filming is expected to start in Fall 2024 so here’s hoping audiences don’t have wait too long.
