Updated Hotel Process for San Diego Comic Con 2026

Comic Con has announced major changes for the 2026 general hotel sale aka Hotelpocalypse.

There have been several changes over the years but the set up has generally been filling out a form and waiting in anticipation until you find out several days later which hotel (if any) you were assigned.

However, 2026 will see participants be taken from a randomised waiting room to a live sale where you will book your specific hotel during the sale. Once you book your room you will have to pay a two night non-refundable deposit.

While the obvious benefit is finding out your room then and there, it does lock you in to that decision rather than having the benefit of waiting to see what is available in the resale that usually happens at a later date.

Attendees will understandably have a lot of questions and concerns about these changes. More information can be found on the official Comic Con website here but we’ll only get the full picture of effect of the changes during the sale. One thing is for sure, Hotelpocalypse just got a whole lot scarier.
