I am a huge fan of Cyberpunk 2077. I know the game had its issues when it first came out, but after a few patches it went from mediocre to one of the best games ever made. And this new expansion looks like it’s going to be the peanut butter to Cyberpunk 2077’s chocolate.
If you are unfamiliar with the original game let me fill you in:
In Cyberpunk 2077 you play as V (whose gender and origin vary based on your personal choices) during a heist gone wrong V ends up with a defective piece of equipment in their head. This piece of tech is a neural chip with a copy of long dead terrorist Jonny Silverhand, played by Keanu Reeves, personality trapped on it and now trapped in your head. What follows is a race against time for Jonny and V where if they fail one or both will die.

The game gave you a huge variety of play styles, ones where you can run in gun blazing, sneak in like a quiet assassin, hack all your enemies equipment so they can’t fight or even run in and fight them bare knuckle style.

And if all that wasn’t enough the game has a wide variety of vehicles to drive and a fantastic supporting cast of characters.

This new expansion is a totally different experience from the original game. Whereas the first game was Blade Runner meets The Warriors this expansion is going full Escape from New York.
The plot sees the Presidents airplane crash land in a lawless district of your home city. V is then tasked with securing and saving the president’s life.

Both Idris Elba and Sasha Grey are joining the cast, which is awesome because both are just pretty cool people so I’m looking forward to seeing how CD Projekt RED utilises them in this game.
But this expansion is more than cameos and new missions it’s an overhaul and upgrade on the original. The passive skill tree points you have in the original become more like perks. The game apparently has limits on your upgrades like in the Cyberpunk Edgerunners Anime. This will force you to be more strategic.

Another upgrade is you will now be able to get into car based combat, which is something that the original game lacked.
This is looking like my next big obsession.
