Star Trek Discovery is beaming into San Diego Comic-Con 2017

Star Trek Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Anthony Rapp, James Frain and Executive Producers Alex Kurtzman, Gretchen J. Berg,
Aaron Harberts, Heather Kadin and Akiva Goldsma will make their first global appearance together at San Diego Comic-Con International on Saturday, July 22 in Ballroom 20. The panel is to be moderated by series guest Star, Rainn Wilson, who will appear as “Harry Mudd,” the charismatic conman and intergalactic criminal.

“Star Trek: Discovery” will also host a gallery takeover featuring the Captain’s chair from the U.S.S. Discovery, along with props and costumes directly from the set; 1000 fans per day will receive Limited Edition “Star Trek: Discovery” posters. The gallery will be held at Michael J. Wolf Fine Arts Gallery (363 Fifth Avenue, San Diego); Comic-Con badges are not mandatory for entry. The exhibit will be running Thursday, July 20 through Sunday, July 23.

Fans are also invited to take a ride in a pedicab inspired by the Captain’s Chair on the U.S.S. Discovery and participate in a #TrekDiscovery photo challenge to win prizes. From Thursday, July 20 through Sunday, July 23, CBS will offer free “intergalactic” rides throughout the Gaslamp District in pedicabs inspired by the design of the U.S.S. Discovery’s Captain’s Chair. The pedicabs will feature the series’ chair’s distinctive stitched black seats as well as video monitors built into its armrests, which in this case will screen trailers for the highly anticipated new show. As an added touch, each vehicle will display an illuminated U.S.S. Discovery delta shield on the back.

On Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22, as part of the #TrekDiscovery Challenge throughout San Diego, fans will encounter an array of authentically costumed Trek ambassadors, representing crews from the first five “Star Trek” television series (The Original Series, “The Next Generation,” “Deep Space Nine,” “Voyager” and “Enterprise”). Fans who post photos of themselves with ambassadors from each of the five series’ crews – and in the STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Captain’s Chair at the Michael J. Wolf Fine Arts Gallery – and who tag all six photos with the #TrekDiscovery challenge hashtag on Twitter or Instagram, will be eligible to win a Roku streaming stick and a subscription to CBS All Access. Prizes will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans can find clues regarding the location of the #TrekDiscovery crews by following @StarTrek on Twitter and Instagram.

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new life forms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series will feature a new ship and new characters while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.

The series will premiere on the CBS Television Network Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017 with all subsequent episodes available on CBS All Access, the Network’s digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service, and will be distributed concurrently by CBS Studios International on Netflix in 188 countries and in Canada on Bell Media’s Space channel and OTT service CraveTV. STAR TREK: DISCOVERY is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller’s Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller, Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers.
