Convention

Dublin Comic Con Spring 2026

Another year, another Dublin Comic Con.
This year I decided to try something new — I went for a photo with the legendary Kate Mulgrew. Yes, Captain Janeway herself. The woman who stranded a crew in the Delta Quadrant and somehow still kept morale higher than most office managers.

Unlike some other conventions I’ve been to, Dublin Comic Con actually manages the crowds really well. They bring people into waiting rooms before photo sessions, which is a fantastic system because it prevents the dreaded convention phenomenon known only as THE STANK. Truly, this is the unsung hero of event planning.

Next we kept the Star Trek energy going with Denise Crosby’s panel. She talked about The Next Generation, Pet Sematary, The Walking Dead, and her art. It turned into a really personal and relaxed discussion, and Denise seemed to fully embrace the Dublin crowd — which is always nice to see when someone realises Irish audiences will happily chat with you like you’re in the pub.

After that I headed downstairs to worship briefly at the altar of capitalism, as all convention attendees must. I managed to escape with only a set of dice and a keychain, which by convention standards shows remarkable restraint.

Then it was up to Level 2 for some gaming and indie developers. Honestly this was one of the best areas of the con — loads of retro arcade machines, PCs to jump on, and a really chilled atmosphere where people could just hang out and play games.
Next on the schedule was the Red Dead Redemption panel, which was great fun.

Seeing members of the Red Dead Redemption 2 cast talk about the game was brilliant — though I’ll admit I was already getting excited for what was coming next.

Because the panel I was really looking forward to was A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. If you know me, you know I’m absolutely here for anything in that universe.

After grabbing a quick bite to eat, I finished the day at the TrekCulture panel. And honestly? We need more panels like this. Fans talking to fans, sharing the love of the franchise, cracking jokes, and just enjoying the community side of fandom. It was an absolute delight.

Roll on Summer 2026 when we get to do it all over again.
