Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of attending Worlds Lair 2025, a tabletop event like no other, hoasted in the heart of London. While there, I got to play 12 Sided Studios’ newest game, Force of Extinction. I am confident in saying this is one of my favourite new tabletop games of 2025.

“In Force of Extinction, you and your friends play a desperate group of survivors, navigating overgrown cities and vastly changed landscapes, scavenging what remains as the world itself evolves about you. Plantlife will subsume you. The climate will destroy you. Predators will hunt you.

In the face of all this, there is only one option: survive.“

When I played the game, we were a ragtag group of survivors eeking out survival in the ruins of London. And failing dramatically at it. I was the towns bartender Clem and I was more concerned with bad puns and making money than the survival of our encampment. Though i got to throw a molatov cocktail and hit monsters with my walking stick, so that was fun.

This is why I love games like this, because Clem was a complete asshole who would happily leave someone to die, whereas in real life, I just can’t be like that. But in this game, I got to roleplay as a complete selfish prick, one that owns a bar at the end of the world.

And as much as I love picking up and playing new games, learning them can be quite daunting. That’s why im so excited to see that the team over at 12 Sided Studio have launched a FREE Patreon to help educate the masses on how to play their fantastic game.
