Ahead of Rings of Power season 2 airing on Amazon, we caught up with the cast at San Diego Comic Con to talk all things Tolkien, their own nerdy habits and see what they could reveal about the upcoming season. 

Charles Edwards (Celebrimbor) is excited for the upcoming season and said it’s going to be major for his character. He’s under Halbrand/Sauron’s spell and audiences will get to see a continuation of that – “you’re going to see how Halbrand moulds and shapes him, and uses him”. Edwards also noted the differing approach he took in playing Celebrimbor this season given the spell – “There’s definitely a power struggle because Celebrimbor is still in there”. However, he confirmed that despite it being Celebrimbor’s authority and him being the one that can make the rings, Sauron has the vision and so more of the control. Edwards suggested that we’ll get to see Celebrimbor lose himself over time to Sauron, which is sure to make for interesting viewing. 

And what of Edwards’ own viewing habits? He openly admits to being obsessed with true crime documentaries but is particular about the ones he likes – “I lose patience with them quite quickly if they’re not absolutely true”. He doesn’t like re-enactments and prefers real footage – “I like the true facts”.
