The New Japanese Godzilla Looks Exceptional

I still remember little Dave watching my first Godzilla film as a child. It was a terrible dub and our favourite Kaiju was on screen battling Mechagodzilla, from that moment I was hooked. So every time this franchise brings a new movie out, I can’t help but seek it out.

Godzilla Minus One is the latest of those films.

Toho is marketing Minus One with this tagline:

“After the war, Japan’s economic state has been reduced to zero. Godzilla appears and plunges the country into a negative state.”

As much as I enjoyed the recent Shin Godzilla it looks like Toho are giving the franchise the Casino Royale treatment with a new modern reboot, one that captures the glories of the old with a sleek new updated look.

Usually I don’t like concepts like this but my hopes are high, especially since the skilled Takashi Yamazaki is the director, writer, and visual effects supervisor. As modern filmmakers go this guy is on power with many of the west’s greats. So the franchise is definitely in good hands.
