In the world of Overwatch, Omnics are artificial life forms created by humans to do all the menial tasks we hate doing. They were built stronger, faster and smarter than us, and this would be humanities near downfall. During an event known as the awakening the Omnic population gained free will and revolted. This is known as the Omnic Crisis.

For years we have been teased with little tidbits about the Crisis, but it looks that time is now over.

Blizzard has released the first part of an anime depicting the beginning of the Omnics and it’s quite stunning.

Part one shows the origins of the artificial life forms and the first steps of the one who would free them, Aurora.

We see Aurora’s origin as the pride and joy of genius scientist Dr Mina Liao, and it’s surprisingly touching. I do wonder what will happen next…

I’m pretty sure it’s going to get violent. She is anyone else getting some serious Animatrix vibes?
